Darfur Union in the United Kingdom demands designation of Rapid Support Forces as a terrorist organization and accountability for UAE over funding and planning of genocide in Sudan

Port Sudan: The Darfur Union in the United Kingdom has called for the designation of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as a terrorist organization, holding the UAE accountable for funding and orchestrating genocide in Sudan, and ending the legitimization of perpetrators in international peace forums.

The statement by the Darfur Union in the UK condemned the international silence regarding the RSF militia’s attack on the Zamzam camp, which resulted in hundreds killed and injured, including women, children, and aid workers, and its recent targeting of a livestock market, claiming more victims. The union emphasized that these attacks demonstrate a clear intent to commit genocide, according to Sudan’s official news agency, SUNA.

The statement added that amid these massacres, the United Nations and the United Kingdom continue to ignore the perpetrators while providing political platforms to their supporters. The London Peace Conference was cited as a stark example, where Sudanese representatives were excluded, and the UAE participated as a “mediator.”

The statement stressed that with the ongoing siege of El Fasher and the collapse of infrastructure, urgent humanitarian intervention through emergency airdrops of food and medicine is critical. It urged the UN and international community to act swiftly.

Mina Arko Minawi, the Darfur Regional Governor, highlighted the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Zamzam camp for internally displaced persons, El Fasher city, and other areas in North Darfur. This was outlined in an appeal sent to UN Secretary-General António Guterres regarding the crisis following the RSF’s April 12 attack on Zamzam camp.

Minawi demanded the immediate release of abducted women and children, unimpeded delivery of food and medical supplies from El Fasher’s outskirts to affected populations, and an immediate end to the siege of El Fasher. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to international humanitarian law and welcomed UN agencies’ involvement in delivering life-saving aid by land and air, pledging full logistical support.
