Kenyan Authorities Arrest Yasser Arman Based on Interpol Warrant Issued by Sudan

Published:

Khartoum-Alyurae-Sudan News– Kenyan authorities arrested Yasser Arman, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-Revolutionary Democratic Current, on Wednesday shortly after his arrival at Nairobi airport. The arrest was based on a warrant issued by Sudanese authorities and transmitted through Interpol. This development is part of the Sudanese government’s efforts to pursue individuals accused of involvement in the country’s political and security crises.

In late September 2024, Sudanese Attorney General Al-Fatih Tayfour announced the pursuit of several leaders of the Coordination of Democratic Civilian Forces “Taqaddum,” issuing arrest warrants related to their alleged cooperation with the Rapid Support Forces in the ongoing conflict since April 15, 2023. Tayfour stated that authorities would request Interpol to execute these warrants, reflecting an escalation in government efforts to hold individuals accountable for involvement in the conflict.

According to sources from “Sudan Tribune,” Arman was detained by Kenyan police upon arrival at the airport and informed of an arrest warrant issued by the Interpol office in Nairobi. He was subsequently held in a Nairobi hotel pending investigation into the nature of the claim, whether criminal or political. Notably, Arman’s transfer to the hotel occurred after he made contacts with parties who communicated with the Interpol office in Nairobi, highlighting the complexities of his legal and political situation.
