The Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Sunday condemned “the refusal of the Sudanese Armed Forces to receive 537 prisoners as a gesture of goodwill on the part of the Support Forces.”
The Rapid Support said in a statement that “the incident of the refusal of the leadership of the former regime within the armed forces to receive the prisoners, has no explanation except that (Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah) Al-Burhan, and his successor, the remnants of the former National Congress, consider these prisoners an undesirable administrative burden, and that they only care about the extremist National Congress Party battalions.”

On the other hand, the armed forces clarified that they have not received any contacts or correspondence from the international organization related to the exchange of prisoners with rapid support through the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The spokesman for the armed forces said that in continuation of its usual approach of launching lies and falsifying facts, the Rapid Support issued a statement stating that the Sudanese Armed Forces refused to receive 537 officers and soldiers captured through the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The armed forces explained that they have not received any communications or correspondence from the international organization in this regard, noting that what was issued by the Rapid Support is pure lies that will not fool the people, who suffer continuously from its violations.

The spokesman for the armed forces added that the RSF proved to be a mere tool to implement an immoral project that arose and continued to lie, falsify facts and destroy the country’s resources.

The statement added that the rapid support is a vivid example of non-compliance with international humanitarian law and is not qualified to speak of goodwill, respect for human rights and other slogans.

Earlier, the Sudanese army announced its rejection of the cessation of hostilities against the Rapid Support Forces, calling for the formation of an emergency government to support the war effort and reconstruction in sites damaged by the war.

Last Friday, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling on the parties to the fighting in Sudan to immediately cease hostilities before Ramadan.

It also called for facilitating humanitarian access to those affected by the 11-month fighting in Khartoum and Darfur, Kordofan and Jazeera states, leaving a very complex humanitarian situation.

Since April 15, violent and large-scale clashes have continued between the Sudanese army forces and the Rapid Support Forces in different areas of Sudan, as both sides are trying to control vital headquarters, including the Republican Palace, the headquarters of the General Command of the Armed Forces, the Rapid Support Forces Command and a number of military and civilian airports.
