British rapper and songwriter Stormsey joins a long list of stars who will perform for Gaza and Sudan, which is scheduled to take place in New Jersey on the fourth of January.
According to foreign reports, all proceeds will go to Human Concern International, an NGO that provides humanitarian aid to Gaza and Sudan.
Stormsey will be joined by American artists such as Clairo, Faye Webster, Omar Apollo, Nick Hakim, rapper 070 Shake and 6lack.
Also in attendance were Canadian music stars Charlotte Day, Wilson and Daniel Cesar, Palestinian writer and poet Mohammed al-Kurd, Sudanese-Canadian poet Mustafa, and Egyptian-American comedian Ramy Youssef.
Sudanese-Canadian poet Mustafa posted on his Instagram account, writing: “We have worked tirelessly to reach you, but our fatigue is not even a fragment of the fatigue of those we will sing to.”
He added “In the last few years I have visited my homelands Sudan and Palestine. My visit to both had a main goal, which was to connect with the artists’ communities, with the young organizers – in order to compare grief, hope and faith.”
Mustafa added that violence in both countries has taken over the dream, adding: “Here it is revived for me in some way. The intention remains, this evening, to give our voices to make room for theirs. I want to thank every artist who performs from the deepest part of me, for their time and effort. No one hesitated to participate when we asked for it, we will remember that.”
