Hamdok: We fear dividing Sudan into statelets

Al-Yurae-Former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok stressed that “the current situation in Sudan necessitates concerted efforts to end the ongoing war since mid-April.”
During the preparatory meeting of the Civil Front to Stop the Conflict and Restore Democracy in Ethiopia, Hamdok said that “we must preserve the unity of Sudan, we do not want to divide Sudan into states,” appealing to the regional and international community to exert more efforts to stop this war.
“The damned war has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent Sudanese and millions of displaced people and refugees, and caused destruction in infrastructure, public and private facilities and citizens’ property in a way that threatens the existence of the Sudanese state,” he said.
Since mid-April, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been fighting a war that has left more than 5,000 people dead, in addition to 5 million displaced people and refugees inside the country.
