Port Sudan, Al-Yurae- (SUNA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release yesterday condemning the Rapid Support Forces’ targeting of residential areas and sites of basic services for citizens.
“It is a continuation of the rebel militia’s approach of targeting humanitarian facilities and endangering the lives of unarmed civilians,” the statement said.
On October 21, the rebels shelled the Al-Manara water station, north of Omdurman, with 13 shells, 8 of which fell in the water purification basin, which led to the temporary suspension of work at the station to measure the impact of toxins on water.
The Manara water station is one of the main water stations in the Omdurman region, especially Karary Governorate. Its cessation exposes the whole province to thirst.
“This heinous crime adds to a long list of atrocities committed by the rebel militia, such as the bombing of safe residential areas in the capital and other cities and villages, which have killed dozens of citizens over the past weeks, its continued occupation of hospitals, the occupation of a marine water station, its looting of food, medicine and necessary materials warehouses, its siege of the city of Nyala, as well as its detention of thousands of civilians to use them as human shields,” the statement added.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renews its condemnation of this desperate terrorist behavior by the rebel militia, whose war has become on unarmed citizens and civilian areas and facilities after it lost its battle with the armed forces.”
The Foreign Ministry once again called on the international community to condemn these ongoing terrorist crimes.
