The forces of freedom and change announce the formation of a mechanism for humanitarian aid

Published:

The Forces of Freedom and Change coalition, the country’s largest political coalition, announced the formation of a humanitarian aid mechanism “to facilitate the work of states and organizations in a transparent and fair manner to deliver humanitarian aid to those in need in areas of clashes.”  said in a statement that due to “the absence of state authority and the administrative vacuum after the outbreak of the war, the current institutions and other organizations no longer have the capacity and competence to effectively provide assistance as required.”

One of the main tasks of the mechanism is to “identify those who are truly entitled to food, health or monetary assistance, and to develop the required treatments in the event of deviations or errors.” It also aims to provide humanitarian aid and assistance to internally displaced persons and refugees who have crossed into neighboring homes in the region.

According to the statement, more than 20 million Sudanese are at risk of food insecurity, including 5 and a half million displaced by the ongoing fighting.
