Damazin – (SUNA) – Lieutenant General Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, Governor of the Blue Nile Region, Chairman of the Security Committee in the region, issued yesterday Decree No. (10) of 2023 AD extending the declaration of the state of emergency in the Blue Nile region, effective from the date of its signature, and the decree included the extension of the declaration of the state of emergency throughout the region for a period of thirty days, and the decision specified that the commander of the Fourth Infantry Division, the director of police in the region and the director of the General Intelligence Service must intervene with all available capabilities to stop tribal fighting and impose the prestige of the state and they have the full Constitutional and legal powers to take appropriate measures as the case may be.
The decree came pursuant to the provisions of Article (9) (b) of the Constitutional Document of 2019, amendment for the year 2020, read with Article (8) of the Juba Agreement for the Peace of Sudan, the final agreement on the issue of Sudan in the two regions, and after reviewing the security and criminal situation and the decisions of the Regional Security Committee, read with the directives and resolutions of the Security and Defense Council on 11-5-2022 and based on the directive of the President of the Sovereign Council, Commander-in-Chief of the People’s Armed Forces on 20/10/2022.
