The security situation in El Obeid, the capital of Sudan’s western state of North Kordofan, has detreated since war broke out between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in mid-April.
According to medical sources there, told the Sudanese news website “Al-Tgaieer” that the Rapid Support Forces looted on Thursday evening a “government vehicle” belonging to the El-Obeid Teaching Hospital in the Al-Wahda neighborhood, located west of the city.
The source stated that the looted “vehicle” was carrying three hospital workers, including a doctor, whom the forces took out of the vehicle and moved out of the city.
According to the news site, four citizens were injured in an armed looting incident on the Dabibat road, southwest of the city, including one person in serious condition.
The city of El-Obeid, the capital of the state, has become the fourth city for the parties to the fighting, which has been besieged by the Rapid Support Forces from several directions for more than a week.
Since the outbreak of the war, the city has witnessed three violent clashes between the warring parties, which led to dozens of injuries and nearly hundreds of civilian casualties.
For nearly a week, the RSF has been looting and stealing around villages near the city of al-Rahad, which it had previously attacked.
For more than a week, the Rapid Support Forces have been imposing a siege on the city of El Obeid in a number of directions, with their deployment in villages and areas adjacent to the city.
