Ethiopia exploits conflict, Haftar and Wagner deny interference and Chad opens borders to dissidents

Alyurae- Ethiopian forces carried out an invasion and attack on Al-Fashaga Al-Saghra yesterday, reinforced by tanks, armored vehicles and large crowds of infantry, but immediately dealt with by the units of the armed forces with their various and long-range fire systems, causing heavy losses in personnel and equipment, according to the newspaper (Al-Sudani) issued today.
The newspaper said that before eight O’clock  in the evening yesterday, battalions of the ground forces marched and attacked the Ethiopian forces and destroyed their camps, and returned with a group of prisoners carried out by companies of reconnaissance forces.
The Ethiopian forces are the Amhara regional forces and consist of warrior militias of Amhara soldiers and officers. The goal of these forces was to regain Al-Fashaqa , south of Al-Qalabat and south of Basanda , with the intention of recovering it and exploiting it in agriculture by taking advantage of the current Sudanese situation, which is witnessing the preoccupation of the armed forces in the bone-breaking battles with the Rapid Support Forces.
The second goal is to support Hemedti and his forces by occupying the armed forces and dispersing their efforts.
The militias believed they had a good chance to retake Fashaga after withdrawing troops from Fashaga to take part in the fighting in Khartoum state.
Al-Sudani sources in the army said that the Sudanese armed forces are currently deployed along the eastern border and are able to deal with excessive force to counter, strike and destroy any force
On the other hand, the Sudanese army said that the forces of the Rapid Support sought refuge in Chad after being driven out of South Darfur when briefly occupying military areas and positions around the city of Nyala
At the beginning of the conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, Chad announced the unilateral closure of its border
The Chadian Ministry of Defence announced on Wednesday that 320 Sudanese military personnel had fled the fighting in their country and crossed the border into Chad.
Defence Minister Daoud Yaya Ibrahim told a news conference that Sudanese military personnel “entered our territory. They have all been disarmed and housed,” Euronews reported.
“Those who surrendered to our forces are 320 members of the Sudanese Armed Forces, including gendarmerie, police and army. They fled for fear of being killed by the RSF.”
In another development, Haftar’s militias denied on Thursday that they were providing support to one side against the other from the two sides of the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
Ahmed al-Mismari, a spokesman for the militias, said in a statement: “The General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces categorically denies … provide support to one side against the other in Sudan.”
He added that what he called the Libyan Armed Forces “are currently making urgent contacts with the parties concerned, and that we are ready to play a mediating role between the brothers in Sudan to stop the fighting”
Russia’s mercenery group Wagner also denied on Wednesday its involvement in Sudan and said it had nothing to do with the fighting in the African country.
Western diplomats in Khartoum said in March 2022 that Wagner was involved in illegal gold mining in Sudan along with other activities, which Sudan denied.
“Due to the large number of inquiries from various foreign media about Sudan, most of which are provocative, we deem it necessary to inform everyone that the Wagner individuals have not been present in Sudan for more than two years,” the group wrote on Telegram.
It added that it had not had long had contacts with Sudan’s military ruler, the head of the Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, or his deputy, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, Hemedti, whose forces are at the heart of the current conflict.
It stated that companies linked to Evgeny Prigogin, founder of the Wagner Group, have no financial interests in Sudan, saying that the conflict is a purely internal Sudanese affair.
