Al-Burhan, in Ethiopia and will meet with Abiy Ahmed

Al-Yurae (SUNA-Agencies) – Sudan head of the Transitional Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, headed yesterday morning to the Ethiopian city of Bahradar to participate in the Tana Forum on Peace and Security in Africa, which will be held on October 14 and 15 with the participation of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, a number of African presidents and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki.
A senior official at the Sudanese Foreign Ministry told the Russian News Agency that al-Burhan “
would meet with the Ethiopian prime minister on the sidelines of the forum.

The Forum will hold panel discussions on the state of peace and security in Africa, culture as a sustainable engine of peace and intellectual development, continental reflections and insights on the security threats on the continent as well as the impact of global insecurity on the African continent, in addition to many topics related to issues of peace, security and development in Africa.
The Chairman of the Sovereign Council is accompanied by Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge, Director of the General Intelligence Service, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufdal, and the Chairman of the Military Intelligence Authority, Major General Mohamed Sabir.

On August 11, the Ethiopian government announced the operation of the second turbine in the Renaissance Dam to generate electricity, in light of the tension between Addis Ababa on the one hand and Egypt and Sudan on the other, due to what the two countries consider a negative impact of the dam on their water shares of the Nile.
