Minister of Minerals reveals that Sudanese gold exports jumped to 1.7 billion dollars for the first time ever!

The Minister of Minerals, Mohammed Bashir, expects to continue the record jump in gold production this year, attributing his expectations to the attractiveness of the sector and the entry of investors into it.

Bashir’s expectations came during a talk session moderated by Sky News Arabia on the sidelines of the 16th Arab International Mineral Wealth Conference hosted by the UAE in Fujairah.

Bashir said Sudan’s gold exports reached a record high of more than $1.7 billion for the first time ever.

Gold exports accounted for 40 percent of Sudan’s exports last year, he said.
