Khartoum-Alyurae- The resistance in Khartoum has announced its intention to carry out a new “January 6th millioniyah” million-man demonstrations in rejection of military rule and demand the civilian state.
Sources in Khartoum said security authorities had carried out a large-scale arrest campaign amid their claim that they were members of resistance committees in several areas of the Sudanese capital, including even women.
In a related context, the Sudan Doctors Committee announced 70 new injuries in the 4th of January millionyah.
In a statement on Wednesday, the commission said that 70 cases in total have been accounted for to date, including 3 cases of head injuries with tear gas canisters, 8 injuries with stun grenades, and an eye injury with a tear gas canister, and indicated that all cases are stable.
Sudan has been experiencing a stormy political crisis since Sudanese army commander General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan announced measures on October 25, including declaring a state of emergency and dissolving the councils of sovereignty and ministers.
Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok announced on Jan. 2 his resignation from his post in the wake of the political crisis.
The political agreement signed on Nov. 21 between Sudanese army commander General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok failed to calm the street.
A transitional authority was formed in Sudan made up of military and civilian personnel following the overthrow of Omar al-Bashir’s government on April 11, 2019.
