Port Sudan (SUNA) – The Acting Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Omar, affirmed that no student will be denied the opportunity to sit for the secondary school certificate exams due to an inability to pay fees. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to enabling all students from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts to take their exams.

During a radio program broadcast by Sudan Radio today, hosted by journalist Ahmed Mohamed Ali Hussein, Khalifa announced that the final date for the postponed 2024 secondary school certificate exams will be determined during the first week after the Eid al-Fitr holiday. He also stated that the results for the postponed 2023 cohort will be announced by the end of April, describing it as a unique and exceptional event aligned with the victories achieved in the “Battle of Dignity.”

Khalifa took the opportunity to congratulate the armed forces, their supporting units, and the Sudanese people on their victories in Khartoum, following the announcement by the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council from within Khartoum Airport that “Khartoum is now free.”

The minister revealed that studies are underway to analyze primary and intermediate school textbooks to assess their focus on national education values. He noted that curriculum experts are capable of designing materials that incorporate these values across all subjects.

Regarding plans for rebuilding war-damaged infrastructure and rehabilitating educational facilities, Khalifa disclosed that the African Development Bank has allocated $20 million to support education, focusing on textbooks and building a database essential for attracting international organization support. Additionally, international organizations have committed $204 million for infrastructure development, textbook printing, and constructing and rehabilitating classrooms.

Khalifa also highlighted a plan to train 2,000 teachers across seven states during May.
