Arman’s Group Splits from SPLM/N and Announces the Formation of a Party

Published:

A group of leaders from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (Revolutionary Democratic Current) announced their split from the organization led by Yasir Arman to establish a new entity named the “Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – Revolutionary Democratic Current.” This separation comes as part of the group’s effort to develop a new vision aligned with the aspirations of its members.

In an official statement, the group explained that the decision to break away was due to what they described as “unilateral decision-making and the marginalization of institutions.” They noted that their attempts to reform the organization from within were met with resistance and intransigence from the current leadership, which rejected any form of change.

This split reflects growing discontent within the SPLM, as the new group aims to restructure political work and activate institutional roles in an effort to meet the needs of its members and Sudanese society at large. The move is expected to provoke mixed reactions in the political arena, with attention focused on how this separation will impact the future of the SPLM/N
