The army advances in Al Jazirah, while 35 RSF members are killed in El Fasher

Khartoum – As battles intensify between the Sudanese army and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on several fronts, army forces are advancing in Al Jazirah state in central Sudan, which has been witnessing escalating military operations for the second consecutive day.Yesterday, Thursday, a video was released showing army forces taking control of the Al-Bashaqra area east of Wad Madani, the capital of Al Jazirah state, which has been under RSF control since December 2023.
The army’s air force conducted several airstrikes targeting RSF gathering sites in the area while infantry forces advanced.According to Umm Al-Qura Observatory, battles renewed early Thursday morning, indicating that RSF forces stationed in the Shabaraqa area retreated after the army carried out successive attacks that ended with its control of the area.
In the Darfur region in western Sudan, the government announced that warplanes destroyed six RSF vehicles in the vicinity of El Fasher city, killing 35 of its members and forcing the rest to flee outside the city. The 6th Infantry Division of the Sudanese Army stated that warplanes carried out three airstrikes targeting RSF forces coming from south of El Fasher on two tractors and targeted others in the northern axis who tried to infiltrate the city.It accused the RSF of deliberately shelling areas in the southern axis to cover snipers from its members who were trying to infiltrate El Fasher neighborhoods to position themselves in tall buildings, but the forces were on the lookout and opened the way for them to infiltrate under artillery shells, which led to their retreat amid heavy losses.Simultaneously, the city of Merowe in the Northern State was attacked by suicide drones targeting the headquarters of the 19th Infantry Division of the Sudanese Army.
According to the 19th Infantry Division headquarters, the attack resulted in one of the drones falling around the division’s command, causing damage to the power transformer station in Merowe city. The Nidaa Al-Wasat platform, concerned with monitoring violations, reported that RSF forces stormed the village of “Umm Manadarib” in White Nile state, where they carried out extensive looting of citizens’ homes and belongings.Resistance committees in El Fasher city announced in a statement yesterday, Thursday, that due to intense shelling by the RSF on shelter centers, hospitals, and residential neighborhoods in El Fasher, community kitchens have stopped working and are unable to provide meals to those in need.
The East Nile Emergency Room in the capital Khartoum also announced the closure of 161 community kitchens out of 219 due to lack of funding. It said that the closure of these kitchens has deprived 112,000 people of food, out of 175,000 citizens who rely on free kitchens in the area east of Khartoum. The room pointed to facing enormous pressures due to food shortages, irregular safe corridors, and RSF imposing strict restrictions on truck movements.Despite the kitchens stopping operations, the number of people coming to them increases every day, as they are the only refuge for those without support.Emergency rooms in several Sudanese areas expressed regret over the rising number of deaths due to hunger, noting that every day more kitchens go out of service, causing an increase in cases of malnutrition and death due to hunger.
