Khartoum announces comprehensive plan to deal with illegal foreign presence, including deportation and locating residences

Khartoum State in Sudan announced the continuation of implementing measures aimed at deporting and determining the residency locations of foreigners, as part of a comprehensive plan to deal with foreign presence. The “Sudan News” website reported that the appointed Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Othman Hamza, chaired a meeting of the Foreign Presence Control Committee yesterday, Thursday. The meeting evaluated the efforts made since the issuance of decisions related to deporting foreigners residing illegally. For his part, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Local Governance, Ihab Hashem Ismail, presented a report during the meeting on the achievements made in this regard, including the establishment of a specialized prosecution and court, and the formation of an executive mechanism from the foreigners’ police.

The attendees emphasized the importance of continuing deportation procedures and determining the residency locations of refugees to ensure the organization of foreign presence in the state.

The Governor of Khartoum stressed the importance of adhering to immigration and asylum laws in the state, pointing to the risks associated with harboring illegal foreigners, especially given the involvement of some in armed conflicts with the Rapid Support Forces and illegal practices. It is worth noting that Khartoum State has recently witnessed a significant increase in the number of foreigners, amid the deterioration of security and economic conditions in conflict areas in Sudan, which led to the influx of many people seeking safety.A large part of this increase is due to the chaos resulting from the armed conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which prompted local authorities to take strict measures to control illegal foreign presence, given its negative effects on security and social stability.
