Sudan prepares to resume oil exports after key pipeline repairs

Sudan on Sunday announced that its southern region is ready to resume oil exports after repairing a pipeline that was out of service for eight months.“All obstacles have been resolved and the pipeline is ready,” the oil ministry of Sudan’s military-led government said Sunday in a statement.

The pipeline across the war-torn country had carried more than 150,000 barrels of crude to the Red Sea coastline. It stopped working in February because of a lack of diesel fuel needed to thin out the crude, which gelled and formed a blockage. A civil war has ripped Sudan apart since April 2023.
