The National Umma Party proposes a roadmap to end the war

Al-Yurae- As battles intensify between the Sudanese army and allied armed movements on one side, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their affiliated armed groups on the other, civilian forces continue to call for both sides to return to the negotiating table.

The National Umma Party has proposed a roadmap to end the war and build state institutions, which it presented to the leadership of the Sudanese army and the RSF. The party stated that the roadmap aims to stop the war and restore the path of civilian democratic transition.Concurrently, the second meeting of the leadership body of the Coordination of Democratic Civilian Forces “Tagaddum” was held, chaired by Abdullah Hamdok.

The meeting discussed the progress of work in the coordination and current developments in the country. The meeting warned of the severe humanitarian crisis facing Sudanese people due to the war, which is considered the worst globally. Rates of displacement, refuge, and hunger are increasing in a way that becomes more difficult to address day by day.The meeting called on the international community to fulfill its declared commitments to provide humanitarian aid, demanding that the army and RSF remove all obstacles to aid delivery and ensure it reaches those in need.It noted that the country is witnessing an escalation of military confrontations throughout, emphasizing that there is no military solution to the conflict in Sudan. The meeting called on the Sudanese army and RSF to heed the voice of reason, respond to calls for a ceasefire, and seek a peaceful solution that addresses the roots of the crisis and establishes sustainable peace in Sudan. It condemned violations against civilians, especially crimes of killing, looting, artillery shelling, and aerial bombardment, calling for all necessary measures to protect civilians and hold perpetrators accountable.

The meeting’s outcomes stated that “elements affiliated with the former regime are exploiting the war environment they ignited, riding on the shoulders of the military institution.” These elements are using the war to spread terrorism, eliminate opponents, promote racist and hate speech, mislead, and fight democratic civilian forces by spreading lies about them and filing malicious reports against their leaders.
