Dozens killed after Rapid Support bombed camp for displaced people in North Darfur

Al-Yrae-Resistance committees in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, reported dozens of deaths, with counting still ongoing, following what they described as deliberate artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Monday in the market of Abu Shouk displaced persons camp. They condemned the targeting of civilians in the camp located north of El Fasher, which houses hundreds of families trapped amid the battles, warning that the residents of Abu Shouk “are being exterminated without anyone knowing about their plight.”The RSF has been besieging El Fasher, the army’s last stronghold in the Darfur region, since last May.On Sunday, the Joint Force of Armed Movements allied with the Sudanese army announced executing a qualitative operation in the northern axis of El Fasher, targeting the Mellit city gate and “Jadid al-Sail” camp located north of the city. They claimed to have achieved “a great victory and expelled the RSF forces from both locations.”The Joint Force stated that the “Jadid al-Sail” camp was among the sites used by the RSF to store military equipment and war supplies. They reported seizing two ammunition and weapons warehouses, a large truck containing food supplies, in addition to capturing two military vehicles with full war equipment and destroying four other vehicles. They also mentioned combing large parts of the northern area of the city and chasing RSF forces to the outskirts of Umm Marahik.
