Al-Yurae- Emergency lawyers in Sudan reported that the Sudanese Armed Forces’ air force conducted an airstrike on the city of Al-Hasahisa in Gezira State, resulting in over 100 casualties, including deaths and injuries, among them women and children. The lawyers strongly condemned the indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas, describing it as a “full-fledged war crime”.
They added that “the insistence of responsible leaders on committing these crimes is a scandal for both regional and international communities, and demonstrates the armed forces’ disregard for the lives of unarmed civilians”, calling for international intervention.
The Civil Democratic Forces Coordination (Tagadum) denounced the airstrikes that targeted the Hamrat al-Sheikh area in North Kordofan State on October 5th. They noted that Al-Hasahisa city was subjected to air attacks on Monday morning, leading to dozens of civilian deaths and hundreds of injuries. They also reported that the Rapid Support Forces conducted artillery shelling on the Al-Hattana area north of Omdurman.Tagadum mourned the victims of these painful events, expressing regret for the continued targeting of civilians by both conflict parties. They called on both sides to adhere to their commitments to protect civilians according to the Jeddah Agreement signed in May 2023, renewing their call to end the suffering of the Sudanese people and resume negotiations seriously.
In the same context, the National Umma Party strongly condemned the continuation of these violations, demanding that the conflict parties and their partners stop attacks on civilians and adhere to their previous commitments. The party also appealed to human rights and international organizations to condemn and monitor these grave violations, considering them war crimes and crimes against humanity that violate international humanitarian law and require prosecution and accountability.
