The emergency room of Tuti Island in the center of the Sudanese capital Khartoum launched an urgent distress appeal to humanitarian organizations, demanding immediate intervention to evacuate the families stranded inside the island, after the lack of necessities of life as a result of the siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces on the citizens of the region.
And revealed emergency room Tuti – Al Jazeera Net – for the looting of rapid support for food from kitchens common force of arms and looting shops and vandalism and looting of the health center, outpatient clinic and pharmacies.
The chamber added that the island will become completely free of food within one week, with a complete interruption of drinking water since June 2023, as the water supply was interrupted in light of the power outage.
Residents used to rely on fuel to run water pumps, but with the soaring cost of buying water and the deployment of RSF snipers in the east of the island, it has become impossible for citizens to fetch water from the Nile.
Tuti Island suffers from catastrophic health conditions, as the harsh humanitarian conditions have led to the death of more than 500 people so far, between natural deaths and accidents of stray bullets or shelling, in addition to the lack of medicines and health care there, which led to the spread of fevers and diseases.
According to local sources, after the start of its attack on rapid support positions in the Khartoum and Khartoum North, the Sudanese army targeted the rapid support posts on Tuti Island, replacing the force on the island.
The Tuti emergency room documented “the Rapid Support Forces’ assault on citizens and preventing them from leaving the island, while the number of detainees exceeded 30 people, including 6 people who died in the Rapid Support detention centers.”
Emergency lawyers said the RSF stormed 15 homes and whipped residents, including women, and threatened to kill them, following the army’s advance in Khartoum and Khartoum North.
Emergency lawyers called for the need to press for rapid support to stop violations against civilians and allow humanitarian cases and medical access to the island.
Since mid-April, Tuti Island citizens have been suffering from rapid support violations and the blockade imposed on civilians, as a fee was imposed to leave the island estimated at two billion Sudanese pounds (about a thousand dollars).
Tuti Island is located in the center of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, where the White and Blue Niles meet in the Muqrin area, and is bordered to the south by the Republican Palace, and to the east by the General Command of the army, making it the focus of violent clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
