Former Sudanese opposition officer Hossam Zulnon says that in the seventeen months since the RSF failed to seize power through the implementation of a military coup supported by the UAE, political forces and UN cover, implemented by the integrated mission and turned into a devastating war for two main reasons: the lack of an alternative plan to deal with the possibility of failure, loss of control and leadership, and the lack of an alternative goal in light of which these forces operate.
“The army’s position was the result of the great difference in military equipment, combat mobilization and control of strategic areas throughout the capital since the night of the tenth of April 2019, and the expansion of rapid support during the transitional period to follow strategies despite the high price paid by the Sudanese, but it was from a military point of view very effective and successful,” Zulnoun said in testimonies to “Al-Quds Al-Arabi”.
He added: “The army adopted the breaking of the combat military capabilities of the Rapid Support and weakening it continuously, and then moved in the second phase to targeting the field commands of the Rapid Support until it It has turned into a group of bandits and groups that have no connection between them, whether using the name of rapid support to carry out criminal operations against unarmed citizens.”
“The third phase of that strategy has left many of the RSF deployed in cities reasonably isolated from each other, weakening their exploitation of the characteristics of flexibility of movement and speed of response,” he said.
He believed that the strategies he followed during the previous stages succeeded, which makes the transition to the stage of liberation and opening up to the regions a logical and consistent step with the overall objectives of managing the battle and achieving the ultimate goal of winning it.
He explained that the simultaneous opening in all axes of Khartoum, west and south of Omdurman, Bahri and the refinery is the beginning of infantry operations that win wars, pointing out that what the army has done is the beginning of the real breakthrough and that changing the balance of the battle has begun.
At the same time, a number of neighborhoods of Omdurman witnessed, for the third day in a row, marches and demonstrations of citizens in celebration of the movements of the last army, as well as huge celebrations were launched in the cities of Kassala, Atbara, Shendi and Al-DamerAnd others yesterday evening after a rumor about the liberation of the refinery Al-Jelly, and hundreds of Sudanese families came out at the same time in the Egyptian capital Cairo to rejoice at the news of the recent army movements.
