Dead and dozens injured in artillery shelling carried out by the RSF on the residential neighborhoods of the city of El Fasher

Khartoum: Artillery shelling renewed in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, resulting in at least two deaths and dozens of injuries.
The Rapid Support Forces have besieged El Fasher since June, while the Sudanese army and the forces of the movements supporting it hold on to the city, which is the last stronghold of the Sudanese government in the Darfur region.
The governor of the Darfur region, Minni Arko Minawi, warns of preparations by the Rapid Support Forces to launch a major attack on El Fasher, noting that they are mobilizing mercenaries to participate in the operation targeting the city, which is the historic capital of the Darfur region.
The RSF follows a scorched-earth policy in El Fasher, he said, condemning the shelling of citizens’ areas and the burning of state institutions.

The Coordination of El Fasher Resistance Committees reported that the Rapid Support Forces carried out an artillery attack on Tuesday, targeting residential neighborhoods, hospitals and shelters.
It said that the “violent” artillery operations affected shelters at Al-Ittihad Secondary School, Ibn Sinai and some nearby houses, resulting in dozens of casualties.
This comes a day after the attack on the Abu Shouk camp for “displaced people” located northwest of El Fasher, where four mortars landed on the homes of the displaced, who are already facing extremely complicated humanitarian conditions due to the siege and food shortages as well as the repercussions of the autumn season.
The Darfur Regional Government had accused the RSF of confiscating WHO aid in the Hekma area of North Darfur that was en route to the city of El Fasher. The Darfur government, based in El Fasher, called on human rights organizations and the United Nations to intervene immediately to stop the violations.

This comes at a time when the Rapid Support Forces are threatening to form a government in the areas under their control, which the Sudanese civilian force believes bears the promise of dividing the country, warning against a repeat of the Libyan scenario. The National Umma Party warned against forming any interim government before stopping the war, stressing that this opens the door to dividing the country and repeating similar models in the region.
He said that he is proceeding with moves aimed at unifying the civil voice through a round-table conference that includes all Sudanese political and civil forces rejecting the war, and is working with his allies on preliminary steps that open the way for a genuine Sudanese dialogue.
He called for the need to continue the efforts of the Egyptian initiative, the African Union and IGAD, and to build on commonalities and find approaches on the issues of divergence shown by the recent results of the dialogue in Cairo and Addis Ababa.
In Kassab IDP camp in Kutum locality, North Darfur, heavy rains killed 5 IDPs and destroyed dozens of homes.

The emergency rooms in the camp warned of the catastrophic conditions left by the heavy rains that fell last night and caused torrential rains and floods that flooded a wide area of the camp, noting that dozens of displaced people became homeless after the collapse of their homes.
With meteorological forecasts of continued unstable weather conditions and the possibility of repeated rains and floods, displaced people in Kassab camp face a state of constant fear and anxiety, she said. Added to this is the deteriorating health situation and severe food shortages, which have caused famine in the camp.
She appealed urgently to all local and international humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately and provide the necessary humanitarian assistance to the residents of Kassab camp in Kutum locality, noting the urgent need to provide shelter, food and health services to the displaced who face extremely complex humanitarian situations.
