Al-Burhan issues a Decree to form a committee for international lawsuits against the «Rapid Support»

The head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, the commander-in-chief of the army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, issued a decision to form a committee headed by the Minister of Justice to undertake “international cases” against the Rapid Support Forces and the state that supports them before the competent authorities of regional and international courts and organizations.
The RSF is facing allegations of widespread abuses across the country amid investigations into war crimes in the western Darfur region.
The Sudanese government accuses the UAE and Chad, among a number of neighboring countries, of providing military support to the Rapid Support Forces, condemning what it considered an attack on the country’s sovereignty.

According to Sovereign Decree No. 82 of 2024, the membership of the committee on lawsuits against the “rapid support” and its loyalists consists of the membership of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice as a member, an alternate chairman, the assistant attorney general of the Republic of Sudan, the secretary-general of the Ministry of Defense, the director general of the police forces, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, head of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Justice, in addition to the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, the representative of the General Intelligence Service, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the head of the Civil Affairs and Opinion Department at the Ministry of Justice as rapporteur.

The humanitarian crisis in Sudan is escalating as the war enters its fifteenth month without a prospect of a settlement.

According to statistics announced by the International Organization for Migration on Tuesday, Sudan has recorded more than ten million displaced people inside the country, including more than seven million people displaced after the outbreak of war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.
According to the Sudanese Medical Syndicate, at least 30,000 Sudanese have been killed during escalating fighting in Sudan for more than a year.
