Sudan calls on Ethiopia to treat its citizens on Ethiopian territory similarly

Sudan’s Foreign Minister Ambassador Hussein Awad and Ethiopian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mesganwadja called for the Sudanese on Ethiopian soil to be treated similarly, especially those who sought refuge in Ethiopia because of the war.

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said – this came in a statement after a meeting between the two foreign ministers in Addis Ababa and in the presence of Ambassador El-Zein Ibrahim Hussein, Ambassador of Sudan to Ethiopia – during which they discussed joint cooperation between the two countries and ways to support and develop bilateral relations and coordinate the common positions of the two countries before regional and international forums.

The Sudanese Foreign Minister reviewed the developments in his country and the role that neighboring countries can play to contribute to achieving peace in Sudan, and renewed his country’s commitment to the policy of good neighborliness with Ethiopia and all other neighboring countries, and pointed to the good treatment received by Ethiopians in Sudan.

Hassan Awad expressed his aspiration for a positive Ethiopian role in resuming Sudan’s membership in the African Union.

For his part, the Ethiopian minister praised the Sudanese minister’s keenness on meaningful and constructive communication between the two countries, and renewed his country’s commitment to stand by Sudan in this crisis, He expressed his hope that it would soon be resolved and that security, peace and stability would return to Sudan.
