The Sudanese army announced the arrest of fighters from Chad and South Sudan, as part of the Rapid Support Forces in the city of Omdurman, west of the capital Khartoum.
The Sudanese army said in a statement on Saturday that it had arrested “mercenaries” from Chad and South Sudan at the headquarters of the Rapid Support Forces command and control at the headquarters of radio and television in Omdurman, without saying how many.
The statement said the militants “were recruited and deceived by the RSF with financial promises,” noting that most of those arrested were “minor children who were deceived.” He stressed that these fighters are subject to fair trials, in accordance with international laws.

On March 12, the Sudanese army announced the recapture of the headquarters of the Radio and Television Corporation in Omdurman from the Rapid Support Forces, which had controlled the site since the outbreak of the war on April 15, 2023.
For nearly a year, Sudan’s army and Rapid Support Forces have been fighting a war that has left some 13,900 dead and more than 8 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations.
