United States issued new sanctions related to Sudan

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Treasury Department said in a post on its website on Wednesday that the United States had issued new sanctions related to Iran, Myanmar and Sudan.

The U.S. Treasury Department website showed that the United States on Wednesday imposed sanctions on three entities in Sudan.

The sanctions included three companies linked to Sudan’s warring parties, the latest in a series of actions against Sudanese entities aimed at halting a devastating nine-month war.
The sanctioned companies are Gulf Bank and Al-Fakhir Advanced Business, controlled by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, and Zadna International, which is controlled by the Sudanese military, according to a U.S. Treasury Department statement.

The sanctions were imposed under a U.S. executive order that allows sanctions to be imposed on individuals who destabilize Sudan and undermine the country’s democratic transition.
