Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and African Countries Mikhail Bogdanov met with Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Jibril Ibrahim.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Bogdanov discussed with Ibrahim, who leads the Justice and Equality Movement in his country, ways to settle the crisis in Sudan.
“During the detailed conversation, the main focus was on the issues of resolving the acute military and political crisis that has been going on in Sudan since April 2023. Meanwhile, the Russian side affirmed its principled position on the need for an urgent cessation of hostilities between regular army units and rapid reaction forces and the establishment of a comprehensive dialogue between the Sudanese in order to ensure the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Sudan.
During the meeting, some pressing issues related to the subsequent development of traditionally friendly Russian-Sudanese relations were discussed, including promising areas of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, the ministry added.
