Emergency Lawyers condemns violations of the RSF against civilians in the villages and cities of Gezira State

Al-YuraeMilitary operations, humanitarian violations and armed looting continue in Gezira State in central Sudan.
The Emergency Lawyers Group denounced the continued violations of the Rapid Support Forces against civilians in the villages and cities of Gezira State, pointing to a gathering of columns of four-wheel drive vehicles that attacked civilians in the city of Al-Ma’iliq, located in Al-Kamleen locality in Al-Jazeera State.
Although the city is devoid of any military manifestations, the RSF fired shots at unarmed civilians, killing one person and injuring others.
The group said in a statement on Wednesday that it condemns the behavior of the Rapid Support Forces for unjustified encroachment on civilians and looting of their property, noting that their presence inside the city raises terror and worries the security of the city, which is devoid of any military appearance.
They pointed out that civilians and civilian objects are protected under the Geneva Conventions establishing the rules of international humanitarian law, and violating them constitutes a war crime that makes aggressors accountable before the International Criminal Court.

The accounts about the crimes and violations of the Rapid Support practiced in Al-Ma’aliq Al-Kamilin locality about detaining farmers and innocent unarmed citizens and their families and calling them the most vile words under the pretext that they are mobilized and the army coincided with the information that the state of Al-Jazeera is agricultural areas from which the army forces withdrew at the beginning of the entry of the Rapid Support Forces to it.
Videos posted by accounts affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces on social networking sites showed ugly treatment of their detainees.
At the end of last month, the Rapid Support Forces swept through several areas east of Gezira state, in the center of the country, before declaring control of its capital, Wad Madani, which is one of the largest Sudanese cities and the closest to the capital, Khartoum. It is also an important gateway for the eastern and southern states of Sudan, which means that the battles in Sudan have moved into a new, more complex phase.
