Al-Yurae-Activists on social media posted videos showing the entry of SPLA forces led by Abdul Aziz al-Hilu into the city of Dilling in South Kordofan amid a welcome from local residents.
This is after the Rapid Support Forces last week took control of the city’s Habila area.
Social media pages circulated a picture and video of the killing of a soldier and hanging him in a crucifixion position amid angry mobs.
A military source told the Darfur 24 news website that the dead was a first sergeant named Suleiman Mohammed Azraq al-Jaqir, whom his colleagues accused of ethnic bias when he slowed down the delivery of fuel two days before the events.
But the army has not launched an investigation into the incident yet.
According to the military source, the SPLA deployed its elements in Dilling without facing any resistance from the Sudanese army.
The source added that the army detained the commander of the 54th Brigade – Dilling, Brigadier General Mohammed Ali al-Hilaliya, on suspicion of collusion with the RSF.
The source also confirmed that the commander of Habila, Brigadier General Alaa al-Din al-Fashshiyeh, was captured by the RSF along with two other officers suspected of being involved in communicating with him.
There were conflicting reports about the fact that the Sudanese army handed over the city of Dilling to the Helou forces, fearing the entry of the Rapid Support Forces after taking control of the Habila area recently.
