The commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo “Hemedti”, paid a surprise visit to the museum Genocide commemoration in the Rwandan capital Kigali.
In a move described as insulting to the victims and the symbolism of the memorial museum by many political activists and victims of his militias in Sudan and immoral on the part of the Rwandan government and the supervisors of his trip programs due to accusations of ethnic cleansing and mass massacres he stand accused by many human rights organizations and political activists in Sudan, in addition to the investigations currently underway at the international level about similar crimes in which the militias affiliated with him are accused.
“Today I visited the Genocide Memorial Museum in the Rwandan capital, Kigali. It is one of the most important landmarks of human history, as it stands as a witness to an era of wounds and tragedies experienced by Rwanda, during which hundreds of thousands of victims were lost due to racism, hatred and attempts to monopolize power by force and wills over the people.” He wrote in a post in his account on the social media platform ‘X’
He added, “Rwandans alone faced their problems with courage and developed radical solutions to them through the experience of (Kajaja), which is similar to (Judia) in Sudan, this practice has established the principles of justice and transitional justice in society, achieved the concept of non-impunity and changed the course of its history from discrimination to unity, from hatred to love, from war to peace and sustainable development.
As Sudanese, we must learn from Rwanda, the war our country is witnessing today must be the last war and work to create a just and sustainable peace for ourselves and the future of our future generations.
We must learn from the experiences of others and chart with our own hands the contours that lead us to safety.”
