CAF reveals the final list of nominees for the African Player of the Year Award

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Friday revealed the final list of nominees for the African Player of the Year award in the 2022-2023 season.

CAF announced early last month 30 candidates to win the African Ballon d’Or, before it was reduced today, to ten candidates, namely, Algerian Riyad Mahrez, Egyptian Mohamed Salah, Nigerian Victor Osimien, Senegalese Sadio Mane, in addition to four players from the Moroccan national team, Sofiane Amrabat, Yassine Bounou, Youssef Nasiri and Achraf Hakimi, and the Cameroonian duo Vincent Aboubacar and Frank Anguisa.

On December 11th, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will award the best African player for the 2022-2023 season, more commonly known as the African Ballon d’Or, at a ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco.

Given the achievements of African players with their national teams and clubs, the competition for the African Ballon d’Or for the 2022-2023 season is expected to be limited to Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, and Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
