Deliberate and indiscriminate shelling of the city of Nyala by the Rapid Support

The governor of the Darfur region, Minni Arko Minawi, said in a tweet on the “X” platform: “Deliberate and indiscriminate shelling continues in the city of Nyala, which led to waves of displacement to nearby cities and countryside, which also suffer from fragility.” “I have communicated with all local and international parties and I continue to urge everyone to stop this bleeding.”
Since the outbreak of the war in Khartoum, the RSF has been trying to expand its military operations and take control of the city of Nyala and command the 16th Infantry Division, which has repelled repeated waves of attacks, the latest of which was led by the second commander of the Rapid Support Forces and brother of Hemedti Abderrahim Dagalo, last week.

Minawi had announced   a meeting with the Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, during which they discussed how to facilitate the role of the court to perform its tasks in investigations in Darfur and in all past and current crimes, as well as how to bring the accused before the court.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has already announced the start of an investigation into new war crimes in Darfur after reports of killing, rape and displacement of civilians, mass graves and an escalation of hostilities in the region coincided with the outbreak of war between the parties to the conflict in Sudan.

Since mid-April, Sudan has been witnessing fierce battles between the army and the Rapid Support Forces over differences over issues of integration, military and security reform, and mutual accusations of seizing power by force of arms.
Sudan’s war has caused fear and anxiety among citizens and the constant wait to return to their normal lives, as the fighting has led to the displacement and displacement of 4.2 million people internally to the country’s safe states, according to United Nations statistics, in addition to a terrible deterioration in the service sector and difficulties in accessing food, medicine and shelter.
