Al-Yaraa (UNITAMS) – The Protection of Civilians Support Office of the United Nations Integrated Transition Support Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), in a statement on monitoring the human rights and protection situation in the country, called for action against perpetrators and for the protection of civilians and their property.
It stated “the situation in Khartoum, Omdurman and Bahri, where clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have continued, remains of great concern.
The situation in West Darfur, Garsila (Central Darfur) and Kutum (Northern Darfur) also continued to deteriorate, affecting civilians, including women and children – many of them caught between the warring parties.
The press release went on to say: Human rights officials are currently documenting dozens of incidents, including killings, arrests, possible disappearances, attacks on hospitals, sexual violence and other grave violations against children, committed by parties to the conflict.
Human rights officials are also reaching out to both sides to the conflict to call for action against perpetrators and to protect civilians and their property.
In light of the continued deterioration of the situation in various parts of Sudan, the Office of Support to Civilian Protection at UNITAMS advocates for action against perpetrators, and for the protection of civilians and their properties.
