Khartoum – Al-Yurae- Local newspapers – The head of the SPLM/N in the Nuba Mountains, Commander Abdul Aziz Adam Al-Helou, said that the political process now underway in Khartoum will not lead to a radical solution to the Sudanese crisis.
But it is a step that could open the door to a solution, if the gains that can be achieved in the negotiations are built upon.
Helou added in an interview with Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday: “If the political process succeeds in ending the coup and forming a civilian-led government, we will negotiate with it, because the popular movement is fighting for a just cause. If there is a way to solve it through the table and negotiate, there is nothing wrong with that – and there is no need for war”
Al-Helou revealed that the Democratic Bloc agreed with them on the principles that lead to ending the problem, saying: “They agreed that the constitution should be based on the principle of separation of religion and state, decentralization, security and military reform, the integration of the Rapid Support Forces into the army, and democratic transition.”
Al-Helou reiterated their commitment to their position on the religious state and the application of secularism, stressing that they believe in the establishment of a democratic system of government that allows everyone to practice their beliefs.
