Opening of Border crossings between Blue Nile and Benishangul-Gumuz Regions recommended

Al-Damazin-(SUNA) – The conference on the development of border relations between the regions of Blue Nile and Benishangul-Gumuz of Ethiopia (under the slogan of peace, development, and good neighborliness) was concluded today at the Roseiris Dam Hall in the city of Roseiris.

 The conclusion witnessed the issuance of the final statement and recommendations, where the draft final statement and recommendations were signed by the Blue Nile Region governor, Lieutenant General Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, and for Benishangul-Gumuz of Ethiopia signed Chadli Al-Hassan, Governor of the Region.

 Lit. Gen. Ahmed Al-Omda Badi pointed out to the eternal relations between the two brotherly countries, noting to the two countries’ richness with resources that make them strong countries, noting to enemies creating differences between them, calling for missing the enemies the opportunity by creating a balanced relationship.

He indicated that the conference was distinguished and successful and has achieved its objectives, commending the distinguished relations between the two countries at the level of senior leadership, listing the advantages of Ethiopian civilization and its historical and religious status.

The Governor of the Ethiopian Benishangul-Gumuz region, Ashadli Hassan congratulated both the Ethiopian and Sudanese people on the anniversary of (Adwa Victory Day), the day of expelling Italian from Ethiopia, indicating that the celebration of it in the Blue Nile is a pride for the Ethiopian people and all the peoples of the African continent, stressing that the Sudanese and Ethiopian peoples are one people.

He emphasized the readiness of his government to implement the outputs of the specialized committees and follow up on this through periodic meetings between the two countries, expressing his hope that the next conference will be to find out what has been implemented.

Sudan’s Consul General to the Benishangul-Gumuz region, Kamal Al-Din Abdullah, stressed that the recommendations that came out of the conference are a historic transfer of relations between the two regions, which went beyond the stage of differences to the stage of joint cooperation for the benefit of the citizens of the two regions, indicating that it was agreed to open border crossings to ensure the ease of border trade.

He pointed to the two sides’ agreement to reduce the negative activity of the opposition and work to fight border crime.

The commander of the Ethiopian 144th Division asserted that there no problem between Ethiopia and Sudan, stressed in the work with the commander of the Fourth Infantry Division in the Blue Nile region for the benefit of the two countries, praising the regional government and regular forces for the warm reception from the entrance to Kurmuk to Damazin, revealing that the specialized committees agreed on all issue amicably and smoothly, indicating the success of the conference.
