Khartoum – (SUNA) – The Wali of Khartoum held an urgent meeting with the Director General of the Ministry of Urban Planning, Eng. Hassan Issa, the Registrar of the Owners Unions of Apartments , the Director General of the Sanitation Authority, Eng. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Taher, and the representative of the Buildings Ministry’s Department, and the meeting was also attended by the President of the Union of Owners and Owners of Apartments.
The meeting came after the recent phenomenon of violating the approvals of buildings in multi-Storey towers, which led to the emergence of problems that cast a negative shadow on the residents of these towers.
The meeting also discussed the spread of violations of multi-Storey buildings as well as violations of service shops overlooking the main streets.
The meeting issued a number of strict directives, on top of which is the application of laws and regulations governing the construction process, starting from obtaining a building permit and following up the building in all its stages to ensure the application of the approved construction requirements, including emergency ladders, fire equipment and civil defense approvals, through inspection campaigns for all neighborhoods of the state, while it approved the need to follow up the building after operation so that violations do not occur at a later stage by modifying the building or by adding uncertified floors.
In the meantime, the meeting called on all apartment buyers to ensure before buying that the building has a valid search certificate and a building completion certificate, and the Registrar of Apartment Unions must organize the management of common facilities in one building, such as elevators, stairs and parking, by specifying responsibilities so that there is no negligence that damages the building.
The governor said that we need more experience and training on how to manage multi-storey buildings, especially common parts, and welcomed the initiative of the Registrar of Unions to hold a workshop with real estate developers as they are the entity that implements and owns multi-storey buildings in order to agree on controls for managing common parts.
