Al-Yurae- Workers in the facilities of the General Authority of Meteorology in Sudan announced a strike from the fifteenth of January until the nineteenth of it.
This came according to a letter signed by the staff committee of the General Authority of Meteorology, published by the website (Souda Media).
The committee said that the step comes in order to achieve their legitimate demands, which ensure the continued provision of air services and quality to the beneficiaries.
The statement added, “We note that the weather forecast office at Khartoum International Airport and state airports completely disclaims responsibility for any information related to meteorological work issued by any party during the strike period.”
The Meteorological Authority in Sudan is one of the first members of the International Meteorological Network Organization, despite its important role for all local and international sectors, it found great neglect by the Sudanese governments for not understanding its basic importance and educating citizens about it, and indeed the former regime displaced its employees and neglected to renew and upgrade its research and meteorological stations that cover all Sudanese territory.
Authority of Meteorology in Sudan was previously directly affiliated with the Ministry of Defense before it was separated from it as an independent institution.
