Agreement between Sudan and Kenya to resume banking relations

Nairobi-(SUNA) – Sudan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya Kamal Jubara has affirmed that the visit of the Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo to Nairobi contributed greatly to the advancement of bilateral relations between the two countries, besides coordination on regional and international issues.

 

Ambassador Jubara said, in press statements Tuesday, that the Kenyan President’s meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council touched on bilateral relations, in addition to the issues of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in Eastern Africa, pointing to the agreement of the two parties on the importance of coordination between the two countries on the issue of South Sudan.

 

The ambassador Jubara pointed out that the meeting of the Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council with the Kenyan Vice-President tackled a number of issues, including economic and trade issues between the two countries, in addition to the IGAD contribution to the achievement of stability in southern Sudan.

 

Ambassador Jubara stressed that the visit opened the doors for cooperation between the two countries, referring to the discussion between the two parties on the details of the resumption of banking relations between the two countries, pointing to the directives of the Deputy of the Sovereignty Council to the concerned organs, in coordination with the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to start direct dealings between Sudanese and Kenyan banks.

 

He added that, on the opposite side, the Kenyan Vice-President gave directives to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the concerned authorities in Kenya to expedite the resumption of banking relations to facilitate the movement of trade and investment between the two countries.
