Al-Yurae-(local news)-The General Union of Christian Youth in Gezira State said that a solder affiliated with the Sudanese army set fire to the Sudanese Church of Christ in the Dokka area, the church that belongs to the branch of Al-Dokka “Port Sudan locality.”
The General Union of Christian Youth condemned this behavior and attack on the burning of the Sudanese Church of Christ in Al-Qalabat.
He pointed out that this behavior “represents a clear violation of human rights, religious freedoms and all international conventions that provide for the freedom to practice belief and worship.”
He stated that the burning of the church took place on “Friday, December 16, 2022 at 2 pm, carried out by an army member named Yassin Ahmed Haroun, in the locality of Al-Qalabat in the state of Gedarif.
In an official statement reported in the local media (Not seen by AlYurae), the head of the union, Osama Saeed, held the government of Gedaref state fully responsible for the safety of Christians in the state from any potential threat.
He called on the authorities in the state of Gedaref to immediately investigate the incident of burning the Sudanese Church of Christ in the area of Al-Doka in the locality of Al-Qalabat and to bring the perpetrator to justice immediately.
