The rejection of the revolutionary forces pushes the African Tripartite Mechanism to postpone the dialogue sessions scheduled to begin today

Al-Yurae, Khartoum- local media, al-Sharq newspaper quoted African Union sources on Monday that: “The differences of the Sudanese parties have prompted the Tripartite to postpone the dialogue sessions, which were scheduled to begin on Today, for further consultations,” al-Sharq newspaper quoted African Union sources as saying.

Al-Yurae yesterday quoted the rejection of the majority of the components of the Sudanese people and revolutionary forces for the proposals of the tripartite mechanism to open negotiations and dialogue that brings together components of the former regime and the leaders of the current coup into dialogue with the Sudanese revolutions forces.

Earlier in the second week of May, the tripartite mechanism of the United Nations, the African Union and IGAD set a date for the start of dialogue between Sudanese to resolve the political crisis.

According to the mechanism, the preparatory meeting of the tripartite mechanism was scheduled to begin on Tuesday and continue until next Thursday.

Fadi al-Qadi, spokesman for the UNITED Nations Mission for Sudan (UNTAMS), told Al-Sharq that meetings between Sudanese parties had not been scheduled.

al-Qadi added that consultations between the Sudanese parties and the Tripartite African Nations mechanism were continuing, adding that “the date of the meetings has not yet been set.”

The Joint Mechanism had developed four key issues for discussion, namely constitutional arrangements, criteria for the selection of a Prime Minister and Government, as well as a programme of work that addressed the necessary needs of citizens, and the setting of a time and process for elections.

The tripartite mechanism announced itself in March to unite international efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis after the UN mission launched its initiative in January.

On Sunday, the Forces for Freedom and Change, which shared power with the country’s army before the October 25th coup, said it affirmed its commitment and positive engagement with the political process under the auspices of the tripartite mechanism, after creating the right climate for it to release political detainees, stop violence and the participation of revolutionary actors in the political movement and the need to conduct it in the eyes of the Sudanese people.

The statement noted that a political process under the auspices of the tripartite mechanism should lead to “achieving the demands of the revolutionary forces to end the coup and form a full civilian authority, to achieve the objectives of the revolution of freedom, peace and justice.”
