Alyurae-At a meeting of the political bureau of Sudan’s largest party, the Sudanese Umma Party, in regards to the current situation in the country, the party issued a statement almost unanimously on its political components, calling on the current government led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to immediately step down from power and hold him responsible for the current instability, violence and killing of peaceful demonstrators.
The Secretary General of the political bureau of the party, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Amin, denounced the military regime’s handling of the current situation in an interview with Al-Jazeera tv, saying that achieving justice was never the goal of the current government and the government that preceded and denounced the killing of peaceful demonstrators in recent demonstrations after the coup by the Army against its civilian partner in power, denying all claims that there are hidden entities that to blame for the killing of the protesters.
On the other hand, a member of the political bureau of the party Imam Al-Helou defended their position and demanded that Al-Burhan step down from power, categorically stated that this position does not mean confusion but is consistent with the road map put forward by the party, and stressed that their position will not change.
Al-Helou told the local newspaper Al-Jarida that the work on the road map is still in the past and will not stop, pointing out that their move came in response to excessive repression and the killing of rebels.
He noted that the party as a political institution will not stand idly by, but hastened to put forward a map to get out of the current situation, pointing out that its aim is to end the military coup, and to remove the coup d’état, while Al-Helou did not set a definitive date on the delivery of the memorandum demanding them to step down.
